'Pack for a Purpose' Helps Needy in Africa 08.02.2010, 13:58:13 Rebecca and Scott Rothney have been making regular trips to Africa for years; travelling from their North Carolina home to visit Kenya, Namibia, South Africa and other wildlife destinations. While touring the region they saw firsthand the needs of the local communities – particularly in the schools and health facilities. After one trip where Rebecca watched the local boys play soccer with a ball of rags tied with string she got the idea to pack some deflated balls to bring along the following year in her baggage.
The impact of leaving just a little extra room in her suitcase to bring some small items was worth its weight in gold for the boys who got real soccer balls. For Rebecca, it was the beginning of an inspiration to launch "Pack for a Purpose." The newly founded non-profit works with travellers to pack needed educational materials and medical supplies for children around the world.

Off the Wagon? Bottoms Up in Mormon County 01.02.2010, 16:08:42 Utah isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind when seeking a good drink. But thanks in part to a recent loosening of the state's liquor laws there is a burgeoning booze business in the state where the majority of residents are non-drinking Mormons. Microbreweries are growing and the state just got its first new whisky distillery since 1870.

Algeria Vacations
Since it's terrible conflict in the 1990's Algeria has not been seen as a popular tourist destination. Few travelers visit the country annually; however, Algeria has continually more to offer as it presses forward on the road to restoration. Since 1999's General Amnesty, peace has become much more prevalent in Algeria. Some fantastic Roman ruins can be seen at Djemila, a remarkably intact Roman Garrison full of splendid mosaics, marble statues and crumbling arches and columns.
Some very nice beaches can be found here as well, along the Mediterranean. Algeria is blessed with a fantastic coast line, especially along the Turquoise coast or Sisi Fredj peninsula. Oran in particular, the second largest Algerian city is ideal for finding lovely beaches, such as Les Andalouses, Cap Blanc and Cap Falcon.
Algeria's lovely, mysterious cities are likely to be included among the country's treasures. Algiers, the capital of Algeria hosts some excellent museums such as the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Bardo Ethnographic and local art museum. The holy town of Beni- Isguen is a fascinating destination, as is Ouargla. Many cities lie hidden as oases within the Sahara desert, which encompasses an incredible 80% of Algeria's surface. If you are looking for a mysteriously enchanting destination, with hidden treasures around every turn, Algeria is an ideal locale.
