The Dodecanese Islands Vacations

The Dodecanese Islands include: Patmos, Rhodes, Halki, Astypalaia, Lipsi, Leros, Kalymnos, Karpathos, Kasos, Kastelorizo, Kos, Nisyros, Symi, Tilos. The Dodecanese is a combination of over 163 islands and islets. Each inhabited island has a particular character, serving as an open archeology museum. So many artifacts and relics are to be found on these islands, one will feel as if they are in a museum, no matter where they go, history is everywhere.

The islands were originally formed, according to geologists, from the peaks of the Aegis mountains, which were a section of dry land that existed four million years ago that served as a connecter between Greece and Asia. Since then, the islands have evolved to have a personality all their own. The whitewashed buildings, azure sky, and crystalline Aegean sea create an incredible panorama, unique only to the Dodecanese Islands.

There is so much to do in the Dodecanese, water sports are a sure bet for an exciting time. For those that are able to escape the allure and undeniable comfort of the beaches, there are many paths throughout the islands, affording incredible views and unforgettable experiences. Not to mention the incredible historical sites, including one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
