The Sporades Islands are a group that lies off the eastern shore of mainland Greece and consists of 11 islands of which only 4 are inhabited: Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, and Skyros.
These Greek islands are characterized by dense vegetation and mountainous terrain and are world known as some of the bluest and most pristine seas one will ever come across and experience. Each of The Sporades Islands has its own special mystical charm and has something unique to offer the visitor. The Sporades' white washed architecture creates a lovely contrast with the verdent, lush vegetation and the azure sea. The islands of the Sporades vary significantly from one another, thus creating a wide range of destinations- from active vacations, to the utmost in tranquil getaways.
Skiathos, the primarily visited island of the Sporades provides a splendid golden coastline of wonderful beaches, with over 60 to choose from. This island is an ideal destination for beach lovers. Alonissos on the other hand, provides a far more tranquil atmosphere, as it is a lesser visited island. Here, Greek charm is maintained, creating a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.
